The Red Table Talk host, Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris strengthened their family bonds by getting  matching tattoos  during their Wednesday, May 26, episode.

Rather than choosing a regular flower, the trio chose Lotus Flower which symbolizes purity and rebirth.

Dr. Woo, a very popular tattoo artist who have worked with many top artist including Justin Bieber, was the designer.

“Look what we did!!!! Thank you @dr_woo for your patience and generosity of your craft and spirit,” Jada, 49, captioned behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, adding, “Now I want a sleeve!!!!”

The design shows the symbolic flower in three different stages of blooming.

“The lotus represents spiritual enlightenment, and we hear this saying, like, ‘Through the mud grows the lotus,’” Willow, 20, explained on the episode.

“The bud to the little blossom to the bloom also, I feel like, expresses the spiritual journey, but also the three of us. I’m the youngest, my mom is the middle and Gam is the fully bloomed lotus,” she continued.

The three tattoos

Willow Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Adrienne showed off their matching tattoos.

“You have to go through the mud, the dirt, and still something beautiful is created, and that kind of describes my journey,” added Adrienne, whom her family calls “Gammy.”

“I’ve been through some really tough times, you know? But I’m still worthy. You know, and there’s still room for me to grow and change even now at 67. I’m still growing and changing and trying to be better. So getting the lotus was everything.”

Jada wouldn’t be the first in the family to get a sleeve as Willow already has a “half sleeve.” But, she shared that telling her father,  Will Smith , was the most nerve-wracking part of the experience.

“I showed my mom the art for my half-sleeve three weeks before I got it. But I didn’t tell my dad,” the “Time Machine” singer revealed, noting that Will has no tattoos.

Thankfully all was good and well once the Gemini Man actor found out about his daughter’s ink. “I showed it to him and he said, ‘Everything is in divine order. Your path is your path and I love you.’”

“She was clean”: no piercings, tattoos, or scarifications. All the kids were now. And who could blame them, Alex thought, after watching three generations of flaccid tattoos droop like moth-eaten upholstery over poorly stuffed biceps and saggy asses?”

“Believe it or not, some of us have piercings and tattoos and dye our hair because we think it looks pretty, not for any deep sociological reason. This isn’t an act of protest against cultural or social repression. It’s not a grand, deliberately defiant gesture against capitalists or feminists or any other social group. It’s not even the fashion equivalent to sticking two fingers up at the world. The boring truth of it, Gabriel, is that I don’t dress like this to hurt my parents or draw attention to myself or make a statement. I just do it because I think it looks nice. Disappointed?”
